Commemorating the Sacred Relics of St. Ignatius, Hieromartyr

Resurrection Apolytikion - Plagal 4th Tone:  "From on high did You descend, O merciful Lord, for us did You endure, three days in the tomb that we may be, released from passions in this world, you who are our resurrection and our life Glory unto You O Lord."

Hymn for St. Ignatius:   "As a sharer of the ways and a successor to the throne of the Apostles, O inspired of God, thou found discipline to be a means of ascent to divine vision. Wherefore, having rightly divided the word of truth, thou did also contest for the Faith even unto blood, O Hieromartyr Ignatius. Intercede with Christ our God that our souls be saved."

Hymn for the Church:   "Blessed are You Christ our God, who revealed the fishermen to be most wise, by sending down to them the Holy Spirit, and so through them catching the whole world in a net, lover of mankind, glory to You."

"Evlogitos I Hriste O Theos imon, o pansofous, tous aliis anadixas, katepempsas aftis to Phevma to Agion, ke di afton tin ikoumenin saginefsas, Filanthrope doxa si."

Kontakion:  "Thou Who did sanctify the Virgin's womb by Thy birth, and did bless Symeon's hands as was meet, by anticipation has even now saved us, O Christ God. But grant peace in the midst of wars unto Thy commonwealth an strengthen the hierarchs whom Thou has loved, O only friend of man."

Hymn of Thanksgiving:  Let our mouths be filled with Your praise, Lord, that we may sing of Your glory. You have made us worthy to partake of Your Holy mysteries. Keep us in Your holiness, that all the day we may meditate upon Your righteousness. Alleluia

Epistle: St. Paul's Second Letter to the Corinthians 6:16-18; 7:1  Gospel: Matthew 15:21-28

Epistle Reading

The Reading is from St. Paul's Second Letter to the Corinthians 6:16-18; 7:1

BRETHREN, you are the temple of the living God; as God said, "I will live in them and move among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Therefore come out from them, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch nothing unclean; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."

Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, and make holiness perfect in the fear of God.

Gospel Reading

~ Sunday of the Canaanite ~ The Reading is from Matthew 15:21-28

At that time, Jesus went to the district of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and cried, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely possessed by a demon." But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him, saying, "Send her away, for she is crying after us." He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." But she came and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, help me." And he answered, "It is not fair to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." She said, "Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master's table." Then Jesus answered her, "O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire." And her daughter was healed instantly.
