At the beginning of every service in which a sacrament is celebrated, the priest solemnly proclaims, "Blessed is the Kingdom of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Whenever a sacrament is celebrated, God's Kingdom of love, mercy, and peace becomes present in our midst in a special way, making us partakers of divine grace and uniting us to God and to one another.

In the Orthodox Church, we recognize seven Sacraments-Baptism, Chrismation, Eucharist (Holy Communion), Healing (Anointing with Oil), Marriage, Reconciliation (Confession), and Ordination-while also celebrating many other services of a "sacramental" quality (Great Blessing of Waters, Monastic Tonsure, etc.).
