Inspiration to Start the Work Week
Not idly did Thomas disbelieve Your arising, nor did he fruitlessly doubt, but boldly strove to substantiate this incontrovertible truth for every tribe on earth; thus by doubting he proved Your resurrection and taught all the world to cry, singing, "Jesus, You are Lord, God exalted over all; You, our fathers' God and ours, for evermore are blessed."
Today it smells like springtime, and new creation is dancing. Today the locks are removed from the doors and the disbelief of Thomas the friend who cries out, “You are my Lord and my God.”
Dear Parishioners and friends,
These are the hymns I shared in Sunday's sermon. Saint Thomas is a great inspiration to those striving to grow in faith while meeting the challenges of life. Below is the reading that I shared in the sermon too. May this continue to be a season of spiritual renewal for all.
Love in Christ,
Fr. Paul
Easter week, in Greek, has a very beautiful name: 'The week of Renewal', which in fact suits the whole of the paschal time. Jesus wished to die and rise again at the threshold of spring. In the same way that Christmas coincides with the victory of sunlight over darkness, when the days begin to lengthen, so Easter coincides with the renewal of nature, when greenery and flowers appear, the universe itself is a symbol of spiritual realities. Springtime speaks to us - if we know how to interpret God's creation - of inner renewal. There is a springtime of the soul. Easter, like springtime in nature, brings us a message of hope. The Resurrection of Jesus tells us that we can be changed.
